So I just got into teenage mutant ninja turtles, as I was feeling nostalgic, and what had originally been a couple of episodes reminiscing turned into a full blown marathon. And as is my habit after getting into some new show/book/etc. I peruse the wonderful world of internet to find fanart and fanfics. Lo and behold...I am shocked to find that I have actually gravitated towards turtle slash. How on earth did that happen? I mean, of course the slash part is a given considering my usual interests, but turtles? brother turtles? straaange...

Finding this pretty strange even for me, I thought about why. And I realized, its not really the slash I'm attracted to...not just with teenage mutant ninja turtles, but with anything. I'm more attracted to the relationships between certain characters' personalities. The reason why I continued watching TMNT even though I thought I just wanted to reminisce for a bit was because I had fallen in love with each of the turtles' personalities. Leo's righteousness and the angst that comes along with it, Raph's hot headedness, Donny's nerdiness, and Mikey's silliness. Such distinct characters just beg to be slashed, even if they are brothers.

In other shows, I gravitate towards the male slashed pairings because in general, most of the female characters annoyed me. The few het pairings (or femslash) I do like is because of their personalities. And even if incest in real life would really be stretching my determination to be open minded about most things, it doesn't bother me as much with fictional characters. Why? Because I know they are fictional, and its not their blood relations that are important to me...its their personalities and unique characters.

So yeah. Now I can breathe easy, even after having faved a rather...ahem intimate position between Raph and Don.
